Local Boy's Race Against Time

Joshua Scoble is fighting a disease that will eventually take over his body.

Joshua Scoble is a three-year-old from the Lehigh Valley. He likes to ride his bike, he likes to play football, he likes to be a normal boy. But soon, Joshua's body will be overtaken by an extremely rare genetic disease called fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva or FOP.

The disease, so rare that only 700 cases have been confirmed in the world, is turning all of Joshua's soft tissue into bone and there will likely come a day when he will be completely immobile.

Although there is no known cure, doctors (and the Scobles) are hopeful that with time, safe and effective treatments will be developed to slow the progression of the condition.
