Police Release Sketch in Jogger Sex Assault

Victim told police a man hit her with something before assaulting her in an alley

Nearly a week after a jogger says she was sexually assaulted while she ran through a quiet Wilmington neighborhood, police released a sketch of a man they want to question in the case.

The man is described as a white man between 35 and 55 years old who stands between 5-foot-10 and 6-foot-2 inches tall and weighs between 150 and 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a dark sweatshirt, a dark hat and a dark scarf, according to Wilmington Police.

The incident happened around 5:30 last Wednesday afternoon in an alleyway off the 1100 block of N. Rodney Street, cops said.

The victim told police she was out for a jog in that area and first noticed the man on the 700 block of N, Rodney. She continued to run but the man struck her -- possibly with a blunt object -- dragged her into the alley and sexually assaulted her, cops said.

The woman was eventually able to get away and call for help. She was treated at Christiana Hospital.

Her accused attacker fled on foot.

Police are asking anyone who may have information to contact Det. Ron Mullin, Jr. at 302-576-3634, the Criminal Investigation Division at 302-576-3620 or to call Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.
