It's Baaaackk! Winter Hits Area Hard

Just days ago, we were enjoying temperatures in the 70s.

Winter is officially back and it's not making Tuesday's morning commute easy.

By 11 p.m. Monday, snow was falling in most of the region but because of unseasonably warm temperatures over the past few days, the warm ground melted much of the first snow on Monday night. That didn't last long as temps dropped below freezing as the night went on.

Waking up this morning, the snow has pretty much ended, but we suggest you give yourself a little extra time to clean your car and get to work. And although most of your major roadways have been plowed, they are still slippery.

Rest assured that PennDot is on top of the wet, snowy weather. They have more than 360 trucks out this morning.

Temperatures are below freezing now, right around 22-degrees, but as the day wears on, the sun will come out and by the afternoon, temps will rise to about 35 causing some of the snow to melt, says meteorologist Bill Henley.

Be warned, though, Bill also says that the temperatures will drop again overnight Tuesday into Wednesday causing the already melted snow to refreeze.

It will be dry on Wednesday, but keep those shovels handy, a new storm system could move into the area this weekend.
