Investigators to Release Details of Garrett Reid's Death

More than two months after his sudden death at Eagles training camp, investigators will release information about what killed Garrett Reid.

Details about the death of Eagles Coach Andy Reid's son Garrett will be released on Thursday afternoon.

The Northampton County District Attorney has scheduled a news conference for 2 p.m. to discuss the investigation.

Garrett's body was found in a dorm room at Eagles training camp at Lehigh University on Aug. 5.

Andy Reid released a statement on the day after his son's death and implied it may have been drug related.

He described how his son "worked to overcome challenges" and lost the battle he'd been fighting for eight years.

Garrett had a long and very public history with with drug abuse.

In 2007, he admitted to being high on heroin when he crashed into another car, injuring the driver.

When he stood in the courtroom to plead guilty to the accident, he told the judge, "I don't want to die doing drugs. I don't want to be that kid who was the son of the head coach of the Eagles, who was spoiled and on drugs and OD'd and just faded into oblivion."
