Injured Phillies Fan Returns to Philly

9-year-old Ryan White flew home in a medical plane on Monday.

The Phillie fan who was the victim of a hit and run while leaving a Giants-Phillies game a couple of weeks ago has recovered enough to return home to Pennsylvania.

A San Francisco General Hospital spokeswoman said nine-year-old Ryan White flew home Monday in a specially equipped medical plane.

Doctors say he still has a long way to go in his recovery after suffering among other things, a traumatic brain injury and fractures to his pelvis, left leg and ankle.

Ryan was in town on vacation with his family.  They attended the Aug. 4 game between the Giants and the Phillies at AT&T Park and was walking back to their hotel when he was struck.

Witnesses said a 2004 Toyota Tundra traveling the wrong way on a one-way street turned left onto Mission Street and hit the boy who was walking in front of his family.

The man police say was behind the wheel is now in custody on $465,000 bail.
