Icy Road Conditions Cause 48 Crashes on Major Del. Roads: Police

Troopers are cleared dozens of accidents on major roadways in New Castle County Sunday

State Police reported a total of 48 crashes Sunday morning in New Castle County after snow and icy conditions made traveling a nightmare for drivers.

The crashes were reported as early as 6:30 a.m. on I-95, I-495, US13, SR1, and Route 72.

One crash knocked a pole down on northbound I-495 at Philadelphia Pike in Claymont.

Three lanes of I-95 northbound at 295 were shut down for several hours so that tow truck operators could clear the roads. All roads were reopened around 10:30 a.m.

Police say no one was seriously injured.
