Authorities say a 91-year-old northern New Jersey woman was critically injured when her 93-year-old husband backed his sport utility vehicle into her.
The Record newspaper reports the accident happened just after 4 p.m. Monday in Wayne.
Police say the man was backing his Chrysler Pacifica down the driveway of his home when he struck a retaining wall. Police Chief James Clark says he then hit his wife who was standing "in or near" the driveway.
The woman was conscious after the crash. But she was taken to a hospital with critical injuries.
Her husband was treated for minor injuries.
Authorities are investigating the accident.
