‘Suspicious' Fire In Kensington

The property owner tells NBC10 he believes the building is a total loss

Firefighters responded to a two-alarm blaze Sunday in an auto supply warehouse in the Kensington section of Philadelphia.

Firefighters got the call around 3:00 p.m. and headed to the scene at the intersection of Amber and Rush Streets.

Fire investigators tell NBC10 that the blaze appears to be suspicious.

"Since we don't know the cause, fire investigators will leaf through this building very carefully and make their decision as to the cause and origin of this fire," said Lt. Bernard Gilliam, Philadelphia Fire Department.

The property owner told NBC10's Marisa Brahney that the building is a warehouse for K & A Auto Sales, and they have had recent problems with people breaking in and stealing scrap metal. The owner also said he believes the building is a total loss.

One firefighter suffered a minor ankle injury.
