Hot Coffee Victim Afraid Attacker Will Return

The young woman tells NBC10's Monique Braxton that the man who threw hot coffee on her last week was a regular and now that he's out on bail, she's afraid he'll return to the donut shop

The Philadelphia woman who was burned when an angry customer threw hot coffee on her last week tells NBC10 she is afraid the attacker will come back.

The attack was caught on several surveillance cameras inside the Fresh Donuts on Lancaster Avenue. Police made that video public last week asking people to help them track down the man in the video. He got so mad arguing over whether he'd paid for a sandwich or not, that he grabbed a hot cup of coffee from Sulia Luy, 27, who was behind the counter, and threw it on her. You can hear him on the video saying, "Take that!"

Luy suffered severe burns on her right arm.

After police identified the accused man as David Timbers, he turned himself in to police late Monday. He was charged with aggravated assault and posted bail this morning.

"You all harrassing me like this?" Timbers said to NBC10 reporter Byron Scott as he left jail with his head covered. "Go and find yourself some real stories."

Luy and a co-worker have said the man who attacked her is a regular at the donut shop and Luy is afraid he will come back.

Her boss, Donald Eap, told NBC10's Monique Braxton that Luy is traumatized. He also says that the man accused is a nice guy. "Don't know what happened that day."

Timbers' sister talked exclusively to NBC10. She said her brother suffers from post traumatic stress disorder and that he apologized.
