Horses Run Loose on Garden State Parkway

Plenty of horsepower was on display on the Garden State Parkway on Monday, but not the kind that drivers are used to.

Two horses were spotted running on the parkway near mile marker 18 northbound in Dennis Township in Cape May County around noon. Animal Control and NJ State Police officers were called to the scene by surprised drivers. The officers were able to wrangle the horses safely once they arrived.

The animals were taken to a nearby farm. Their owners then came to retrieve them. Police have not revealed how the horses got loose in the first place. No one was injured during the incident.
