Groups Want to Honor Korean War Veterans

Two veterans groups are working to raise $10,000 for a memorial honoring those who served during the Korean War.

The News Journal reports that the 3-foot memorial is planned for Kent County Memorial Park in Dover, behind the Kent County Levy Court.

Korean War Veterans Association of Delaware President George Goss says there are already memorials in Sussex and New Castle counties, and the state's Korean War veterans deserve a memorial in Delaware's capital. His group is working with the local chapter of the Vietnam Veterans of America.

Organizers hope to dedicate the monument on July 27, the anniversary of the end of the war. They are selling bricks for $75 each to fund the project. Goss says they've raised about half the money for the project.
