Home Invasion Targets UDel. Students

UDel. students bound, gagged by intruders

Six University of Delaware students were bound and gagged by four armed men who burst into an off-campus apartment looking for drugs and money, said Newark Police.

A resident of University Courtyard Apartments opened the door slightly when he heard noises in the hallway early Monday and four intruders, who had two guns and a knife, forced their way in, Lt. Brian Henry said to the News Journal.

The intruders bound the students' hands and covered their mouths with duct tape. The intruders took a safe and other items with them, Henry said.

One man freed himself and called police. One woman was hit in the eye by the door pushed open by the intruders, but no one else was injured.

The same apartment was burglarized over Thanksgiving break, but nothing valuable was taken, Henry said.
