Hit and Run Leaves Man in Critical: Cops

A Camden County man is fighting for his life after a hit and run accident early Friday morning.
Police say that Vance Banks, 27, was walking home from work along Sicklerville Road in Winslow Township just after 1 a.m.

Suddenly he was struck by a car which quickly drove away from the scene.

“An anonymous caller called in and said there was a man in the street and just left  him there,” said Vance’s sister Tiffany Wilmer.

Paramedics responded to the call and found Vance lying on a parking lot suffering from severe head trauma. He was taken to Cooper University Hospital where he underwent a 2-hour surgery. He is currently in a medically-induced coma and in critical condition.

Vance’s family is hoping for a steady recovery. But they also want the driver to come forward.

“I know the fear factor and I know how the individual probably feels,” said Vance’s relative Archie Wilmer. “We have a feeling that they’re probably the one who made the call but that call is not enough.”

Police recovered a passenger’s side mirror from the scene of the accident. They believe the mirror comes from a red 2003-2007, two door Honda Accord.

“They’re going to get caught anyway since we know what car it is,” said Archie. “Slowly but surely one of your neighbors I hope will turn you in. But you need to turn yourself in. Man up or woman up.”

“What if that happened to one of your family members?” asked Tiffany. “That was wrong.”
