Hit and Run Driver Admits Guilt

The family and friends of Faith Sinclair can rest a little easier today. Lemuel Payne told a judge on Monday that he was the one who struck and killed the 16-year-old Ridley High School honor student on Chester Pike in Sharon Hill last August.

Payne hit Sinclair as she was trying to cross the street with friends, left her for dead and proceeded to hide his black Mercedes with a blanket in the garage of his Upper Darby home.

Police found the damaged vehicle four days later.

And with only one day until he was supposed to stand trial for the fatal hit and run, Lemuel Payne finally opened his mouth -- to plead guilty.

Payne’s sentencing is set for July 20 and he could face up to nine years in prison and $20,000 in fines.
