SUV Kills Mom, Injures Daughter

Authorities say a vehicle struck a mother and daughter on a suburban Philadelphia road, killing one and injuring the other overnight.

Emergency responders in Montgomery County were called to the scene along N York Road near East County Line Road in Hatboro, Pa. around 12:15 a.m. Monday.

Francisca Polanco, 63, died in the accident. Her 30-year-old daughter, Mable Cruz, was rushed to Abington Hospital, where she remains in critical condition, according to Montgomery County Prosecutors.

Hatboro Police Detective Sgt. Cameron Goold told reporters that the male driver of the SUV stopped and cooperated with authorities, and was interviewed and released.

Investigators were trying to figure out what the women were dong in the roadway at the time of the crash.

"We're not sure where the pedestrians were going," said Goold.

The roadway remained closed for several hours overnight following the wreck.
