Caught on Camera: Man Swipes Laptop From Del. Store Display

Suspect connected to 2 NJ thefts as well

A man entered a Wilmington, Del. Electronics store last week and walked out with a $1,000 laptop.

No news there, except for one thing -- the man didn’t pay for the computer, according to Delaware State Police.

It happened around 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 16 at the HH Gregg Appliances & Electronics at Brandywine Town Center. The alleged crook was captured on surveillance camera inside the store.

On Tuesday, the store contacted police to let them know about the theft. The alleged thief somehow cracked a security cable attached to a Sony Vaio laptop, placed the computer in his cart and left the store, cops said.

The same man is believed to be responsible for two other laptop thefts that occurred last week at a Deptford, N.J. location of HH Gregg.

He is described as a 6-foot, 200- to 220-pound black male around 40 to 45 years old who was wearing a blue windbreaker, police said.

Anyone with info on this case should call Master Cpl. Rick Deskis at Troop 1, 302-761-6677 - extension 324, Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333, online at www.tipsubmit.com or by texting a tip using the keyword “DSP” to 274637 (CRIMES).
