Gun Show Vendor Seeks Probation After Shooting

A Pennsylvania gun show vendor is seeking probation for shooting a woman while demonstrating a holster.

Forty-four-year-old Geoffrey Hawk faces a simple assault charge. The Press Enterprise reports he waived his preliminary hearing Wednesday.

Police say Hawk shot customer Krista Gearhart in the thigh during a June 28 gun show at the Bloomsburg Fairgrounds in central Pennsylvania. She was treated at a hospital and released.

Hawk, who is from Warminster, says he doesn't know how a bullet got into the semi-automatic pistol. All guns displayed at the show are supposed be unloaded.

Defense attorney Eric Winter says Hawk will apply for a program for first-time offenders that would allow him to clear his arrest record if he completes all its requirements.
