Happy Ending: Gizmo Goes Home

One local family is celebrating the safe return of a family member who had been missing for two weeks.

Gizmo, the adorable miniature pinscher, who was allegedly dog-napped while he and owner Manuel Mendez were visiting a friend in their Allentown neighborhood, was returned on Monday night.

Mendez says that around 9 p.m., a woman called his wife, Denise, and told her that her children had found the missing pup.

Manuel and Denise quickly made their way to Green Street address they had been given.

It was Gizmo!

The two hugged, Denise cried and Gizmo, well, it was pretty obvious how much he missed his family, says Manuel.

And just as the many banners and posters the couple had posted around Allentown stated, they asked no questions and paid the children their $700 reward -- part of which was donated by a good samaritan -- as promised.

Manuel says it’s a small price to pay for the return of their missing family member.
