Fireworks Explode in Girl's Hands Inside Kensington Home

The girl was taken to St. Christopher’s Hospital where she is currently listed in critical condition

A young girl is fighting for her life after fireworks exploded in her hands inside a home in the Kensington section of Philadelphia, Sunday morning.

The 9-year-old girl discovered the fireworks, which police said may have been M-80s, inside a home on the 1800 block of East Wishart Street shortly after 10:30 a.m. The girl lit them up and they exploded in her hands.

The girl was taken to St. Christopher’s Hospital where she is currently listed in critical condition. Investigators also checked the home for more fireworks and the Special Victims Unit was notified.
