Girl, 6, Dies After Weekend Blaze

Authorities in Pennsylvania say a 6-year-old girl has died of injuries from a weekend fire that also injured three other people.

Lehigh County Coroner Scott Grim said Madison Arner of McAdoo, Pa. was pronounced dead at 8:25 a.m. Monday at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest.

Grim said the girl died of smoke inhalation stemming from the Schuylkill County fire and ruled the death accidental.

Fire crews were called to the McAdoo home at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday. Arner was flown to the hospital in critical condition and three other people were also taken to the hospital.

Assistant Fire Chief Leshko told the (Pottsville) Republican-Herald that a state police fire marshal had determined that the blaze was caused by an electrical problem.

The girl’s mother Lorraine Searfoss, 45, Dylan Danko, 21, and Savannah Searfoss, 16, were injured in the blaze, Leshko told the paper.

The family’s pets died in the fire.
