Girl, 15, Charged in Crash That Killed Boy

A 15-year-old girl has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and homicide by vehicle in a northwestern Pennsylvania crash that killed an 8-year-old boy and wounded three other kids, but authorities say the case will be handled in juvenile court.

The Erie Times-News reports other charges filed in Erie County include aggravated assault, reckless endangering and accidents involving death or injury while not properly licensed.

Police in Erie say the girl was driving a car that went out of control in the city's east side Aug. 13, killing 8-year-old Emir Zilkic.

Three other kids, a 10-year-old boy and two 14-year-old girls, were also hurt.

District Attorney Jack Daneri said an “exhaustive investigation” including an accident reconstruction and numerous interviews led to the charges.
