Father Found Dead Inside Galloway Township Home, Son Arrested

A man was arrested after his father was found dead inside his Galloway Township home Saturday night.

Galloway Township Police and the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit were called to a home on Trotters Lane shortly before 10 p.m. for a report of a body inside.

When they arrived they found 60-year-old James Sopuch dead inside the home. An autopsy was performed Sunday and investigators determined he died from blunt force trauma to the head. His death was ruled a homicide. 

Sopuch’s son, 29-year-old James Sopuch, Jr., was arrested Sunday and charged with the aggravated assault of his father. Police say Sopuch Jr. also lived with his father. 

Sopuch, Jr. was lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility on $100,000 full cash bail. 

Investigators have released few details regarding what led to Sopuch’s death. They continue to investigate.
