Caught on Cam: Woman Uses Young Girl as Lookout as She Steals From Furniture Store: Police

Police are searching for a woman who they say was caught on camera stealing from a Philadelphia furniture store while using a young girl as her lookout.

Surveillance video shows the woman leading the girl to the back office of Kassie’s World Furniture Store on the 3800 block of Castor Avenue Sunday afternoon. In the footage, the woman appears to use the girl, who investigators believe is 5-years-old, as a lookout while she goes into the office and steals from a purse. She then left the store with the girl.

“She had the child outside to keep eyes on me and make sure no one was coming in,” said Sheila Huang, the owner of the purse and the store.

Police say the purse contained cash from the business, credit cards and Huang’s cellphone.
Huang says she can replace the stolen items but is more concerned for the young girl who was with the thief.

“The major thing is the child involved,” she said. “That just makes me sick to my stomach.”

If you have any information on the theft, please call Philadelphia Police.
