Funeral Held for 8-Year-Old Girl Shot and Killed in Camden

A funeral was held Saturday for an 8-year-old girl who was shot and killed in Camden, New Jersey last month.

Loved ones gathered outside the Faith Holy Temple Church of God in Christ in Camden Saturday morning to say goodbye to Gabby Hill-Carter. Her body was then led away by a horse-drawn carriage before she was buried at Harleigh Cemetery.

Hill-Carter was wounded when gunfire erupted near her home Aug. 24, and family members announced two days later that she had died from her injuries.

Authorities have said the girl was hit by a stray bullet when several men opened fire on an intended target. The men then jumped into a car and fled.

Surveillance video is still being reviewed. No arrests have been made.

Authorities are offering a reward of more than $76,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of her killer.

Anyone with information on the shooting should call the Camden tip line at (856) 757-7042 or the Citizen's Crime Commission at (215) 546-TIPS.
