Free Kenny Chesney Concert in Wildwood

Thousands hit the beach for the big event

Country music superstar Kenny Chesney is giving a free concert on the beach in Wildwood, N.J. on Wednesday night.  For those unable to score a ticket, you can listen to the concert right here.

Chesney originally wanted to hold the concert on a boardwalk in Seaside, New Jersey but he saw the Wildwood beach and loved it.

25,000 music fans have tickets for the show.  Thousands more have jammed the surrounding beach and boardwalk.

Wildwood officials are mindful of the huge crowd and were prepared in case it got too hot for people to handle.

“We have a lot of water set up for people, we have misting stations.  Presently, we have about 80 EMS-paramedics, we actually have, Cape Regional Hospital brought in doctors, nurses” said Mayor Ernie Troiano.

There were two field triage centers on the beach, as well as nearly 300 law enforcement officers on duty.

While the concert was free, some fan shelled out a bundle to park.

Chuck Sigwart of Atco, New Jersey told NBC10 “I forget what street it was, but we went to some lady’s house and she said 80-bucks we could park in her driveway, so we paid it and we’re here.”
