Report: Flyers Sign Grossmann To 4-Year Extension

Defenseman acquired in February trade with Dallas

The Philadelphia Flyers announced Saturday afternoon that they had signed defenseman Nicklas Grossmann to a multi-year contract extension. ESPN and TSN NHL reporter Pierre LeBrun has tweeted that the extension is a four-year deal worth $14 million.

Grossmann, 27, was acquired by the Flyers from the Dallas Stars in a February 16 trade that sent a second-round pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft and a third-round pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. Grossman has played in 22 games for the Flyers this season, recording five assists,  52 blocked shots, and 68 hits.

The Flyers close the regular season Saturday afternoon against the Pittsburgh Penguins. They will face Pittsburgh again in the best-of-7 NHL Eastern Conference Quarterfinals, which will begin next week.
