Philly Architects to Design U.S. Embassy

KieranTimberlake, an architecture firm founded in Philadelphia produced a winning design for the newest U.S. Embassy in London according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. The building will have a more positive appearance and reflect the efforts of America “going green."

The embassy will have a much "softer" look thanks to surrounding landscape, lots of glass and plastic scrims hanging from the four sides of the building as seen in pictures from KieranTimberlake and the Philadelphia Inquirer. The plastic scrims won’t just look pretty; they can keep the building from over heating and also convert any amount of sunlight into energy.

"We wanted to create a building that would be an environment for diplomacy, but also serve as diplomacy for the environment," James Timberlake, one of the company's founders, explained to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

People that walk past the embassy will be able to look inside the main lobby and see large art pieces by American artists and relax while gazing upon the park surrounding the building. The park will include what seems to be a moat, but is really a crescent shaped pond and anemployee entrance resembling a draw bridge.

Kudos to KieranTimberlake for the winning design and best of luck for the design to be accepted by those living in London.
