Flight From Philly to LA Diverted Due to Odor

Authorities say a US Airways flight from Philadelphia to Los Angeles was diverted to Phoenix after an unusual odor was detected in the cockpit.

Federal Aviation Administration officials say US Airways flight 797 landed safely at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport at 10:47 a.m. Monday.

FAA spokesman Ian Gregor says the agency is working with US Airways to determine the cause of the odor.

It wasn't immediately clear how many passengers and crew were aboard the plane or whether they had to take another plane to Los Angeles.
