Five Phila. School Buses Up in Flames

Three are destroyed.

School’s out for Spring Break, but three Philadelphia School District buses may be out for good.

Around 2:45 Sunday afternoon, firefighters rushed to the district’s school bus compound at Academy and Byberry roads in Northeast Philadelphia. When they arrived, they found five school buses engulfed in flames.

They weren’t able to control the blazes until almost 4 p.m.

All of the buses are owned by Philadelphia School District. Officials believe that three are destroyed.

Authorities are still investigating the cause(s) of the fires.

Since there’s no school this week because of Spring Break, students’ transportation will not be immediately affected.
