Philadelphia Police announced the arrest Monday of five people, including three kids, for a series of armed robberies.
Surveillance video of one of the robberies shows the suspects raiding the cash drawer.
Police said the robberies all occurred at different Metro PCS phone stores throughout the city, all at gunpoint. One set of surveillance footage shows a suspect carrying a machete.
The stores sell cell phone plans and accessories.
Police made the arrests Saturday on the 1600 block of East Erie Avenue.
They say all the robberies had the same motive.
“A group of males, between three and four males, would barge into the store unannounced. They would immediately produce handguns -- on at least one occasion, a machete-type knife was also produced. They would order the employees to the ground, put the gun to their heads or the knife to their head and then they would demand access to the safe,” Chief Inspector William Colarulo said.
Police are not sure if they have all the suspects in custody.
They are asking for the public’s help in this ongoing investigation.
