Despite Rescue, Fisherman Dies

Pa. man dies after boat overturns

Authorities have released the name of a Pennsylvania man who died after his boat capsized on a western New York lake during rough weather.

State police say 69-year-old Robert Knell of Duke City, Pennsylvania and 65-year-old Roy Barclay of Derrick City, Pennsylvania were fishing Friday under the bridge carrying Interstate 86 over Chautauqua Lake when high winds and waves overturned their small boat.

Troopers say bystanders used a boat to rescue both men and bring them to the shore in the town of Ellery, where an ambulance took them to the hospital in Jamestown.

Police say Knell died Saturday morning from cardiac arrest. Barclay was treated and released.

Troopers say both men were wearing life jackets.
