A fire in Wilmington this morning spread to two adjoining homes before firefighters were able to get it under control.

Suburban firefighters were called in to assist Wilmington firefighters in the 400 block of W. 30th St. The fire got under control shortly after 10:30 a.m.

The fire department is calling damage to the structures "extreme."

"Firefighters were given wet towels to cool off with as they tried to cope with temperatures in the upper 80s this morning," said a release from the Wilmington Fire Department.
