A firefighter is recovering after a vehicle struck a fire truck during a police chase in Wilmington.
Police say they were in pursuit of a suspect driving a stolen vehicle Tuesday night. During the chase, the suspect crashed his vehicle into a ladder truck at the intersection of 11th and Washington Streets. The impact caused the front of the suspect’s vehicle to catch fire.
Two people inside the car, including the suspect, were injured in the crash. Police say they had to use a stun gun against the suspect before he and his passenger were taken to the hospital. The suspect was later taken into custody. Police have not yet revealed his identity or the specific charges against him.
A firefighter also suffered minor injuries during the crash. Investigators say the fire truck was responding to a call at the time of the accident.
