Residents in a University City building had their homes filled with smoke early Friday morning after a fire broke out in a dumpster on the first floor.
Crews responded to reports of a fire at a property near 39th and Walnut streets shortly before 4 a.m., officials said.
The smoke billowed to the upper floors through a trash chute, according to investigators.
There were no reported injuries.
No word yet on the cause of the fire.
