A fast-moving fire has destroyed or damaged several buildings at a shuttered resort in the Poconos.
Authorities say the fire at the former Fernwood Resort in Middle Smithfield apparently broke out around 8 p.m. Sunday in the resort's recreation building. It quickly spread throughout the site, but no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The resort has been closed since 2014. Authorities say a Buddhist group had purchased the more then 30-acre property last year in hopes of creating a world peace center, and renovation work was ongoing at the site.
