Deacon, Wife Killed in S. Jersey House Fire

Investigators say there were two fires in a Willingboro neighborhood Friday morning, but the fires were not related. Edwin and Charlene Jordan were killed in one of the fires. NBC10's Deanna Durante reports. (Published Friday, Nov. 2, 2012)

We've learned now that two people -- a deacon and his wife -- died in this morning's house fire in Willingboro, Burlington County, New Jersey.

    The location is Millbrook Drive.

The victims are a man in his seventies who is a deacon in Palmyra, according to neighbors, and his wife. Their names are expected to be released later today.

Neighbors told our crew that they knew the victims had been without power because power on the entire street has been out. The couple may have been using a generator that was found outside the home. We are working to confirm that information with investigators on the scene.

Some neighbors tried to get into the home to save the couple. They busted through the back door into a wall of thick, black smoke and then tried to get in through another entrance, but couldn't.
