Police Name Suspect in Deadly Quadruple Shooting of Woman's Family Members

Jabir Kennedy is wanted on murder and attempted murder charges. He is considered armed and dangerous.

A man wanted for shooting four family members of the mother of his children remains on the run as he faces murder and attempted murder charges.

On Sunday, Philadelphia police named Jabir Kennedy as the suspect in the murder of one man and the shooting of three others along Dorel Street in Southwest Philadelphia on Dec. 21.

"The boyfriend, we believe, is the gunman here," Lt. John Walker of Southwest Detectives said.

The couple initially allegedly got in a physical fight Thursday in another neighborhood of Philadelphia. Afterward, the woman, who wasn't seriously injured, called her family members instead of police.

Six people in two cars, including the woman, went to the man's house on Dorel Street later Thursday night. The 21-year-old suspect came out of his house and allegedly got into a fistfight with one of the family members, police said.

"The boyfriend starts losing the fistfight," Walker said. "As a result of him losing that fight he does the stupid thing, pulls out a gun and starts firing," Walker said.

Jabir Kennedy is accused of shooting four men related to the mother of his children on Dec. 21, 2017. One of the men died.

Officers rushed four men shot to Penn Presbyterian Hospital in critical condition. A 23-year-old died early Friday, police said. Two 22-year-olds and a 32-year-old were treated for gunshot wounds.

The suspected shooter fled the scene on foot and police have since been searching for Kennedy, identifying him on Christmas Eve.

"He is considered to be armed and dangerous," police said in a news release.

Anyone who spots Kennedy should call 911.

Four men were shot after they came to the aid of a woman who was fighting with her boyfriend, police said. It all happened late Thursday on Dorel Street. All four were in critical condition.
