Extreme Heat Causes Early Dismissals

With near 100-degree temps expected and Excessive Heat Warnings in effect, local schools started to get ahead of Mother Nature by announcing scheduling changes and early dismissals.

These are some of the schools and school districts that have special excessive heat plans in place for Wednesday and beyond as the mercury pushes to triple digits.

Pennsylvania:

  • Boyertown School District – Early Dismissal Wednesday for all elementary and secondary schools and no p.m. kindergarten.
  • Quakertown Area School District - 11:15 a.m. Senior High will be dismissed
    12:05 p.m. Neidig, Quakertown, Tohickon Valley, and Haycock Elementary Schools will dismissed - there will be no lunch. There will be no PM Kindergarten and AM Kindergarten students will be dismissed with the other elementary students at 12:05. There will be no PM Upper Bucks Technical School classes.
  • Hatboro-Horsham School District – Hatboro-Horsham High School will close at noon, Keith Valley Middle School will close at 12:30 p.m. and the elementary schools will close at 1:00 p.m.
     

Philadelphia:

  • Philadelphia School District - All schools to close at 1:30 p.m. Thursday and all after-school programs will be cancelled.
  • Philadelphia Archdiocesan Schools - All schools to also close at 1:30 p.m. Thursday
  • Pan American Charter School – noon dismissal Thursday

New Jersey:

  • Black Horse Pike Regional School District - Highland, Timber Creek and Triton Schools will be dismissing students at 11:45 a.m. on Thursday and Friday.
  • Haddonfield School District - Half-day schedules for the Central, Elizabeth Haddon, J. Fithian Tatem, Middle and High School buildings. 
  • Vineland Public Schools - All Vineland Public Schools will have a half day on Thursday.
