Three former Philadelphia police officers charged in a scheme to steal heroin and sell it themselves are facing more charges.
Federal prosecutors on Thursday charged the former officers with possession with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school.
Authorities in July charged Robert Snyder, James Venziale, and Mark Williams and a suspected drug dealer with hatching a plot to seize drugs in a staged traffic stop. Investigators say the former officers would provide the dealer with a fake property receipt to make it appear to his supplier and others that the seizure was legitimate.

Snyder and Williams were also charged Thursday with planning to rob a man they believed was a mobster collecting gambling proceeds.
Authorities say that plot was never carried out.
