Ex-Boy Scout Leader Indicted on Child Porn Charges

Federal authorities say a former Boy Scout leader in New Jersey has been indicted on child pornography charges.

The indictment handed up Wednesday by a federal grand jury charges 48-year-old Gerrett Conover of Woolwich Township with two counts of sexually exploiting two boys and 10 counts of the receipt or distribution of child porn images. He's also accused of possessing additional child porn images.

Conover was stopped at a border crossing when he tried to enter the United States from Canada in September 2012. Investigators allegedly found more than 50 child porn images on his computer of images of child abuse, chats, and emails -- more were found during a search of his home.

Conover served as a Boy Scout leader from 1990 to 2000. He faces more than 100 years in prison if convicted on the charges. He is also facing a $250,000 fine if convicted.
