80-Year-Old Home Invasion Victim Dies From Injuries

An elderly man who was shot during a home invasion last May has died from his injuries, according to police.

An elderly man who was shot during a home invasion last May died from his injuries, according to police.

On May 17, at 2:40 p.m., police say Joseph Fleming, 80, was inside his home on the 6600 block of Yocum Street when he heard a noise coming from his basement. When Fleming went into the basement to investigate, police say an intruder who was in the stairwell fired two shots and struck him in the stomach and leg. Fleming was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. On Friday, police announced Fleming died overnight from his injuries.

After an investigation, police identified the shooter as Sean Johnson, 18. They arrested Johnson and took him into custody. On May 26, police say Johnson somehow escaped and is currently a fugitive.
