Elderly Del. Couple Found Safe and Sound

The Schmidt's were expected at Christmas dinner but never arrived

The Delaware couple who vanished on their way to Christmas dinner have been found safe and sound in New Jersey.

On Christmas, Delaware State Police issued a Gold Alert for Erling and Angelina Schmidt, 89 and 84, who were traveling from the Stonegates Retirement Community in Greenville, Delaware to their daughter's home in Marion, Pennsylvania.

State troopers were contacted at 7:00 p.m. -- when the Schmidt's didn't arrive for dinner -- and initiated an investigation and search.

Police say the Schmidt's ended up in Gloucester Township, New Jersey. They were found by authorities around 12:30 Monday morning, although how they ended up there is still unknown.
