Ryan Dunn, Zach Hartwell Die 100 Yards From Home

"Jackass" stars crashed only yards away from Zachary Hartwell's home

They were almost home.

The car crash that killed “Jackass” star Ryan Dunn and his passenger Zachary Hartwell happened only yards away from Hartwell’s house.

The 34-year-old Dunn and 30-year-old Hartwell, were killed early Monday. Police say Dunn's Porsche might have been traveling as fast as 100 mph when it crashed 2:38 a.m. near the Pottstown exit on Route 322.

Hartwell’s house is less than 100 yards from the exit ramp that Dunn was presumably trying to turn onto before he lost control of the vehicle.

Friends and acquaintances saw Dunn and Hartwell at Barnaby’s bar in West Chester Sunday night and into Monday morning, before the two left in Dunn’s car.

While there’s been some speculation that Dunn may have been driving drunk, the loudest voice being film critic Roger Ebert, a toxicology report will not be available for weeks, according to the Chester County Coroner’s Office.

The official cause of death is “blunt and thermal trauma due to a motor vehicle accident.”

Dunn, who appeared on MTV shows “Jackass” and “Viva La Bam” and the three “Jackass” big-screen adaptations, was recently engaged to be married, Bam Margera’s father Phil Margera told NBC Philadelphia.

Hartwell served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was recently married, according to Phil Margera. Hartwell also worked as a production assistant on the movie "Jackass Number Two" and starred in Bam Margera's movie "Minghags."
