Drunk Driver Sentenced for Fatal Crash

A southern New Jersey woman who was driving drunk when she caused a fatal accident last year has been sentenced to seven years in state prison.

Ocean County prosecutors say 61-year-old Deborah Tadych of Brick also will have to serve three years of supervised release once she's freed from prison. The sentence was imposed Tuesday.

Tadych had pleaded guilty in June to a vehicular homicide charge stemming from a December 2012 crash in Brick.

Two other drivers were able to avoid Tadych, who was driving southbound in the northbound lane on Herbertsville Road without headlights. But she eventually collided with a vehicle driven by 65-year-old Susan Steeper of Brick.

Steeper was extricated from her car and taken to a hospital, where she died a short time later.
