Authorities say three drugs dealers who attempted to sell narcotics to school students in Philadelphia have been arrested.
The Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office on Friday announced charges against Jesse Holder, Deshaun Williams and Leea Morton.
Authorities say they seized 76 grams of drugs, an AR-15 rifle and a 33-round magazine loaded with 21 armor-piercing bullets, from the trio, who were near a school in Kensington. All face felony charges of drug possession, drug possession with the intent to deliver and conspiracy.
Investigators confiscated the rifle, three grams of heroin, 14 grams of methamphetamine and 59 grams of marijuana.
One of the men is charged with a weapons offense while Morton is also charged with endangering the welfare of children. Two children younger than 5 years old were present during the arrest, the attorney general's office said.
Kensington is a neighborhood of the city particularly hard-hit by the opioid epidemic.
"The children of Kensington, especially our youngest, should be able to walk to school or play with friends in safety and not be confronted by drug dealers trying to sell them the very poisons that are fueling the opioid, heroin and fentanyl crises," Attorney General Josh Shapiro said in a statement.
