Drug Deal Ends with Man Punching Woman: Police

Numerous charges have been filed against an accused drug dealer who allegedly punched a woman who claimed the man sold her ground-up soap instead of crack cocaine.

Keansburg police tell the Asbury Park Press that the 37-year-old woman confronted 26-year-old borough resident Kevin Carter late Friday morning, shortly after she gave him $100. The pair briefly argued before Carter allegedly hit the woman and took her cell phone

The woman called police to report the incident, and Carter eventually was charged with robbery, simple assault and distribution of an imitation drug. His bail was set at $44,000 cash, and it wasn't known Saturday if he has retained an attorney.

Police say the woman suffered bruises but refused medical treatment. She was charged with wandering to obtain drugs.
