Driver in Fatal Gloucester County Crash Arrested

Police say the driver had a suspended license.

Police arrested the driver in an accident that resulted in the death of a Gloucester County woman.

It happened early Monday night on the 300 block of Bridgeton Pike in Mantua. Carol Gonzalez, 70, was struck by a Ford Explorer driven by 50-year-old Jeffrey Bond of Deptford Township, according to investigators.

Gonzalez was taken to Underwood Hospital where she died from her injuries. While Bond did not flee the scene, police say he was driving on a suspended driver's license. He was arrested and charged for having a suspended driver's license while being involved in a fatal motor vehicle crash.

Bond was incarcerated at the Gloucester County Jail in default of his bail. The accident is currently being investigated by members of the Mantua Township Police Department's Crash Investigation Unit.
