Driver in Crash That Killed Woman Was High on Heroin: Police

A New Jersey man is accused of striking and killing a woman with his car while he was high on heroin.

Kenneth Busardo, 27, of Barnegat, New Jersey is charged with vehicular homicide, DUI, reckless driving and other related offenses.

According to police, Busardo was driving a Cadillac Deville northbound on Route 539 in Lacey Township back on September 18 around 6 a.m. Busardo’s vehicle moved into the southbound lane and struck a Chevy Cavalier, police said.

The driver of the Cavalier, identified as 54-year-old Suzanne Kessler of Whiting, New Jersey, died from her injuries.

Busardo suffered minor injuries in the accident but refused medical treatment. He was still taken to Southern Ocean County Hospital by investigators however to have his blood drawn for analysis.

Police later determined Busardo was high on heroin at the time of the crash. He was arrested at his home Saturday. He was taken to the Ocean County Correctional Facility with bail set at $250,000.
