Boy, 8, Dies From Hit-and-Run Injuries

The little boy who was hit Wednesday night crossing the White Horse Pike, has died.

Jahmil Alford, 8, of Pennsauken was on his way to a PATCO station. He was crossing the street near Elm Avenue in Lindenwold, Camden County, N.J. with his family when he was struck by a station wagon.

Jahmil was taken to Cooper Hospital in Camden where he died around 11 a.m. on Thursday.

Investigators say the driver quickly drove off, despite cries from witnesses for him to stop.

Another motorist followed the car and reported the license plate number to police. Michael Finkelman, 57, was arrested later that night.

Finkelman was originally charged with leaving the scene of a serious motor vehicle crash. After Jahmil's death his charge was upgraded to leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle crash.

Investigators are reviewing the case to see if further charges are warranted.
