Driver Shot by Cops in Hunting Park

Traffic stops turns into deadly shooting late Friday night.

Philadelphia Police opened fire on a driver after the man pulled a gun on officers on Friday night.

Lieutenant Ray Evers told NBC10 a sergeant from the 25th district stopped the car at 4400 Rising Sun Avenue in Hunting Park around 11:30 p.m.

Two other officers arrived at the scene and as the two officers and the sergeant approached the car, the driver got out and pointed a gun at them, said Evers.

The sergeant and one officer fired at the suspect and he was hit three or four times, according to Evers.

The driver was later identified as Matthew Henderson, 28.

The incident is under investigation by the homicide unit, Internal Affairs, and the District Attorney's office.
